Warrigal, in partnership with the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) and Shellharbour City Council, invites the community to a special event that will highlight the importance of multiculturalism and inclusion in aged care.

In celebration of Harmony Week, Warrigal, in partnership with the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) and Shellharbour City Council, invites the community to a special event that will highlight the importance of multiculturalism and inclusion in aged care. The event will be held on Thursday, 20 March 2025, from 10:00am to 11:30am at Shellharbour Civic Centre.

Harmony Week is a national celebration of Australia’s rich cultural diversity, and this event provides a unique opportunity to explore how inclusivity enhances the well-being of older people, aged care workers, and the broader community. The event is open to everyone, particularly older people and their families, aged care professionals, and anyone passionate about the future of multiculturalism in aged care.

Warrigal CEO, Jenni Hutchins said, “At Warrigal, we are committed to creating communities where everyone feels welcome, valued, and respected. This free event is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together, celebrate our differences, and learn from one another. It’s so important that we continue to ensure aged care services are inclusive for everyone.”

Event highlights include:

  • Panel discussions with industry experts on best practices in multicultural aged care
  • Cultural performances showcasing the diverse backgrounds of Warrigal staff, volunteers, and community members
  • Networking opportunities for aged care professionals, older people, and their families to connect and share experiences

The event will feature traditional Aboriginal dance by Gumaraa, and Fijian songs performed by Warrigal’s PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) staff members, offering a rich cultural experience for attendees.

Guests will also enjoy light refreshments featuring a variety of multicultural cuisines, while having the opportunity to engage with local community groups, aged care providers, and leaders in an open and welcoming environment.

To reserve your spot, please register via Warrigal’s Facebook page. We encourage early registration to secure your place at this special celebration.
